Terms of Service

The agreement between you and WeChant when you use the app.

WeChant Terms of Service

Effective date: 15 July 2026 Last updated: 15 July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and WeChant, a football chants platform operated by Corin Morrissey (sole trader), trading as WeChant. When we say "we," "us," or "WeChant," we mean this operation. We are based in the United Kingdom.

Please read these Terms alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we look after your personal data, and our Community Rules, which set out what you can and cannot post. Where these Terms mention data handling, the Privacy Policy governs; where they mention acceptable content, the Community Rules govern.

1. Accepting these Terms

By creating an account or using WeChant in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. If you are using WeChant on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are allowed to accept these Terms for them.

2. Who can use WeChant

WeChant is for people aged 13 and over. By using the app you confirm that:

  • you are at least 13 years old;
  • the information you give us (including your date of birth) is truthful;
  • you are not impersonating anyone else or misrepresenting who you are; and
  • you will not use the app to commit fraud or any unlawful act.

If you are under 16, in some regions a parent or guardian should be aware that you are using this app.

3. Your account and security

You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for everything that happens under your account. Please choose a strong password and do not share it. Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed your account.

We may suspend or restrict an account where we reasonably believe it is being used for abuse, fraud, or a breach of these Terms or the Community Rules.

4. Your content

WeChant is built on content created by fans — chants, lyrics, recordings, descriptions and related material ("your content").

You keep ownership of your content. By submitting it to WeChant, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and moderate that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the app. This licence lasts for as long as your content is on WeChant and ends a reasonable period after you delete it or your account (allowing for backups and moderation records).

You must have the rights to what you submit. By uploading, you confirm that the chant, lyrics and any melody or recording are your own original work, or that you otherwise have the right to share them on WeChant. Do not submit material that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights. If you are unsure whether you have the rights, do not upload it.

5. What you may not post

Our Community Rules are the canonical source for what is and is not allowed on WeChant. In short, content that includes hate speech, threats, slurs, explicit sexual material, doxxing, or incitement to violence is banned. The Community Rules give the full detail and always take precedence on questions of acceptable content.

6. Moderation

To keep WeChant safe, we (and our automated moderation tools) may review, remove, or refuse to publish content, and may suspend or terminate accounts, where content breaches the Community Rules or these Terms. We may do this without prior notice where necessary. We aim to be fair and proportionate, and you can contact us at [email protected] if you believe a moderation decision was wrong.

7. Copyright and takedowns

We respect intellectual property rights and expect you to do the same. If you believe content on WeChant infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with:

  • a description of the work you say has been infringed;
  • the link to the content on WeChant;
  • your contact details; and
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised.

We comply with takedown standards under the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (CDPA) and, where relevant, the US DMCA. We will act on valid requests and may remove the content or disable access to it.

8. The reputation system

WeChant uses reputation points (RP) and tiers to recognise participation. RP is a virtual, in-app measure only. It has no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and may be reset, adjusted or recalculated at our discretion — for example, to correct errors or to counter gaming of the system.

9. Availability and changes

We work hard to keep WeChant running well, but we do not guarantee it will always be available or uninterrupted, and we provide no service-level guarantee. We may add, change or remove features over time.

We may update these Terms. If we make a significant change, we will give you at least 30 days' notice (for example, in the app or by email) before it takes effect. Continuing to use WeChant after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Ending your use of WeChant

You may stop using WeChant and delete your account at any time from the Delete account page. Deleting your account starts the anonymisation process described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or end your access where you materially breach these Terms or the Community Rules, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will let you know.

11. Our responsibility to you

WeChant is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise that the content submitted by other users is accurate, lawful, or suitable, and we are not responsible for user-generated content beyond our moderation duties.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, or for any business losses (WeChant is provided for personal, non-commercial use). Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless local consumer law requires otherwise.
